The Toy Box is a proudly New Zealand owned and operated online toy store based in the sunny Bay of Plenty, run by husband and wife team Andrew and Andrea.

The business originally began over 12 years ago as The Wooden Toy Box, with a simple idea, to offer beautifully made wooden toys that children would genuinely enjoy and that parents could feel good about buying. In 2019 the business was rebranded to The Toy Box, reflecting the fact that while wooden toys remain at the heart of what we do, our range has grown to include other toys that inspire imagination, creativity, and learning.

Andrew and Andrea took over The Toy Box after spending years raising their own children, who are now teenagers. Like many parents, they quickly discovered that not all toys are created equal. Too many were cheaply made, played with once, then forgotten or broken.

What they were really looking for were toys that lasted. Toys that children would return to again and again. Toys that encouraged imagination, creativity, and learning, while still being genuinely fun to play with.

That experience continues to shape how every toy is chosen today.

Rather than offering thousands of random products, The Toy Box focuses on a thoughtfully curated collection of toys that support children's development while still capturing their attention and imagination.

Many of the toys in the range are made from wood or durable materials, designed to last through years of play and even be passed down to younger siblings. Others encourage open-ended play, creativity, problem-solving, and skill development.

Over the years, one of the things customers tell us most often is how much they appreciate this careful selection. Although we operate online, we are still very much a local New Zealand business. Our warehouse is based in Papamoa in the Bay of Plenty, and if you ever have a question you can simply pick up the phone and call us.
